How we make money

Engineclue is free to read. It pays for itself in three ways:

1. Affiliate links. When we recommend a product, such as an OBD2 scanner or a jump starter, we may link to a shop that pays us a small commission if you buy. The price you pay is the same. These links are always labelled next to the link.
2. Advertising. Some pages show ads. On safety articles, an ad never appears above the urgency information.
3. Car history reports. Our used-car guides may link to a history report provider that pays us a commission when you buy a report.

What this doesn't change

• We only recommend gear we would trust in our own cars, and we research every pick properly.
• No partner can pay to change an answer, a cost range or an urgency rating.
